Rev. Dr. Ngeo, Boon Lin (歐陽文風) is a Chinese-Malaysian author of more than 30 books. He was an award-winning journalist before leaving for the United States to study sociology and theology. Better known as O.Young (歐陽), he speaks frequently in Chinese speaking communities in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and his home country, Malaysia. He was ordained at MCC New York (MCCNY) in 2007. In 2006 he was the first public figure to come out in his country.
He has written extensively about LGBT rights, religion and sociology, and has traveled all over Asia for many years helping LGBT Christians and activists to understand the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ. He is instrumental in founding GSMCC, which later became GSKL in Malaysia and in forming gay Christian fellowships in some cities in Mainland China.
He earned his doctoral degree in theology from Boston University, and currently also a doctoral candidate in sociology at the City University of New York. He lives in New York City and teaches sociology at St. Peter's University in New Jersey and Gender studies at City University of New York --Hunter College. In Fall 2009, he was invited to teach LGBTQ Studies and Sociology, the first course of its kind offered at the Jesuit university. Rev.
Dr. Boon is a Staff Pastor of Metropolitan Community Churches in New York (MCCNY), and member of the Global Justice Institute (MCC), and a team member of Asian Pacific Initiative (API-MCC).
